CANADIAN SIGHTING

This past week, Tom Biscardi received a phone call from a Canadian citizen. David Beatty is a First Nations person, living in the northern portion of Saskatchewan, Canada. David is a native Cree Indian who lives and hunts in northern Saskatchewan and whose family had just had an encounter with an unknown creature near their home. David called Tom and the Searching for Bigfoot team, because he knew Tom would listen to him and take him seriously. He wanted some help in understanding what the family had encountered and he wanted someone to talk to about it. Someone, who would respect him and his family as they talked about this controversial subject. This is a brief synopsis of what had happened and what is still going on. On December 9th, about 2-3:00 in the afternoon, Shaylane Beatty was driving down Candle Lake road, on her way to Prince Albert to do some Christmas shopping. She had just gotten to the sign for Torch River, Saskatchewan, Canada when she saw what she though was a large bear standing on the side of the road, about three hundred yards in front of her. As she drove closer, she could see the creature was heading out to the road. The closer she got, the less the creature looked like a bear. When she got within less than than 100 yards, the creature turned back away from the road and began to walk back away from the road. Shaylane began slowing down and soon was right along side of where the creature was standing. She stopped her car and looked into the area where the creature was standing. She could plainly see the creature walking back into the woods. She was only about 80 feet away. She could not see the creature’s face, but could clearly see it from the back. Shaylane used her cell phone to call her aunt, David Beatty’s sister to share with her what she had just seen. Shaylane’s aunt immediately called her brother Joseph Beatty to share the story. She shared the story she had just heard where Shaylane had described a creature that was 8 to 9 feet tall. She said it was dark brown in color with very long arms. It was very muscular in build and did not seem to have a neck. As it walked away, it swung it’s long arms and swayed in an unusual manner. Shaylane said it never looked back at her and she never saw it’s face, but she was very sure it was not a bear. It was not anything she ever saw before! Shaylane wanted to get out of her car and follow the creature, but was so shocked that she decided that it would be safer to just head on to Prince Albert. She told her aunt that she would talk more about it when she got home.

Joseph had just finished checking his trap lines and was still in his driveway talking to his friend and neighbor Michael Ballantyne when he got the call from Joseph’s sister. It was about 3:30 in the afternoon when Joseph received the call from his sister. Joseph got off the phone call and then called his brother David to discuss the incident. His brother was shocked to hear the story, but because Joseph and Joseph’s friend Albert Custer had heard strange calls in that same general area, back in October 2 of this year, he believed the story. He decided he would talk to other people to share the news.

Joseph and his friend Michael, decided that they should check out the story and see if they could find some prints or other signs of this creature. They thought they new the approximate area of the sighting and were hope full that they could find it, so they grabbed their cameras and headed off, it was about 7pm. Unfortunately, they did not find any foot prints and it soon became too dark to film. They were afraid the directions were too vague and decided to go back home and wait for better directions from Shaylane. They had remained out until about 2:30am and got home about 4am. It was about -15 degrees not counting the wind chill factor. They planned to go back out in the morning once they got more specific directions from Shaylane. They were not able to contact Shaylane but went back out anyway with the hope that they might see her car on the way back from Prince Albert. They left again around 12:30 in the afternoon on the 10th. Brian, David, and Joseph Beatty, along with Albert Custer went out again with their cameras. This time, in the daylight, they did find the prints. While they were filming, Shaylane did drive up and saw them there. Shaylane confirmed that this was the right location and that these prints were the ones made by the creature!

A NEW TWIST!

Early today, in the afternoon, the Searching for Bigfoot office received the following email. This email was sent to us by a man who lives in the very area that the Canadian Encounter happened. As is the practice of Tom Biscardi and the Searching for Bigfoot team, we tell you what we see, the way we see it, when we see it, and how we see it. We have been in contact with the Beatty family, who first called Tom Biscardi to share their experience with us, and we find them to be very credible. We believe that the sighting they shared with us came from an honest and very real experience. We do not suspect that they are sharing false information and we do not feel like they are trying to fool anyone. However, the following letter points out the possibility that the Beatty family may have been mistaken themselves! I have contacted the man who wrote this letter and he seems to be very credible as well. He is open mined and explained to me that he will be going back out into the area where the original sighting took place to make certain that he is correct in his story. Subject: Bigfoot Sighting Near Candle Lake Sk.

Hi Tom,

I'm contacting you regarding the apparent siting of a Big Foot this past week near Candle Lake, Saskatchewan. I talked with the news reporter here (Kelland Sundahl) thus how I received your name and she advised to contact you. Anyway, to make a long story short, the supposed Big Foot that the woman from Deshambeault Lake seen last Saturday afternoon was actually me. I was out on my trap line checking traps when this woman stopped her car and started staring at me. I have no idea where some of the descriptions she gave came from, with the exception of me wearing a fur hat. Which almost every trapper in the north wears when out on their trap line. She comes from a northern community, thus should be more than familiar with this type of apparel. When I look at the video on your website, it is very obvious that those involved have planted some bigfoot foot prints near where I was standing and setting traps. My main concern is that my cabin is very close to this area, as that is where I came from when the lady along the highway seen me, thus with all the extra activity around the immediate area, I have a real concern about the well being of my cabin. After talking with the news media, they are quickly removing the story as well clearing up all misconceptions with this incident. I would appreciate it if you did the same thing, as false information such as this could discredit the good work you are doing with this subject.

We recieved a follow up call from the man who wrote the letter posted above... He told us he went back out into the area where the prints where found, but because of a new snow of 5+ inches, he was unable to find anything there. The older prints were covered and nothing new was to be found.

On the other hand, we recieved phone calls from two other people in near by areas (within 10 miles) of additional possible sightings!!?

We recieved another film clip from Ballantyne family. The clip is very interesting and is shown in it's entirety. It has been copyrighted by the Ballantyne family and being presented on this site, is also covered by our own copyright. We have been granted special permission to show this film. It may not be copied or re-shown without written permission. Here is the note we recieved with the clip;

''This is the first clip of the prints we came across at the Torch River. This video was taken two days after the actual sighting. We took measurements and they were 15" in length and the stride was about a metre. What we didn't realize was that the sighting was on the other side of Torch River about 15 km away from where we found these tracks. Gloria Ballantyne''
