The Mystery of the Clandestine Project!December 2006The Searching for Bigfoot team, lead by Tom Biscardi, may have just experienced the most unusual expedition of our history. We uncovered a situation that is unlike anything we have ever experienced before. A situation that was so mysterious and unusual that we are hard pressed to understand it fully. We found a whole town that was gripped by a deep underlying fear and mistrust of anyone outside of their own small circle of association. I am going to attempt to share what we have uncovered with our readers, in a way that will not jeopardize the safety or lives of any of the people we met and talked with. I will give you all the information as we found it, but I will attempt to leave out all names and connections that may lead to the names of the people we talked to. The story I am about to share with you is one that this writer would not have believed, had I not experienced it myself. It began much as most of our expeditions, with a phone call Tom Biscardi received. This call was from someone we had not heard from in the past. A man from Ohio called us to tell us about a film he had seen, of a creature in Kentucky, eating pancakes that had been set out for him. The man went on to say that if we wanted to come out to Kentucky he would meet us there. This simple call set in motion an investigation that lead to the most bizarre and dangerous situation we have ever been in. We attempted to verify the information we received, but were only able to find bits and pieces of information from our normal sources of associates and references. We did get enough bits and pieces to convince us that there was more to this story than we could find out about over the phone. We heard about a business man who had bought up the properties where the alleged film was taken and who might actually possess even more physical proof of the existence of this creature! That was enough for us. We made the decision to drive on out to Kentucky and investigate it eye to eye. A decision that nearly cost us our lives! As is our practice, we approached the investigation in an honest and open format. Tom was able to research more about this mysterious business man and soon found a way to contact him. The “mystery man” soon confirmed that he indeed had film footage and evidence of a creature in this area of Kentucky. He also informed us that he had all of the people involved with his findings under contract not to divulge any information about his findings. Tom explained that we would be coming out to see for ourselves and that we had no intention of “stepping on anyone’s toes”. This is a large area and we would be doing our investigation in conjunction with theirs. In fact, Tom offered to share anything we found with our “mystery man”. The “mystery man” reluctantly agreed that it is a free country and that he could not try to stop us. However, he did ask that if we get any co-operation from the people in the area, that we share those names with him. He went on to explain that he had serious contracts in place that might allow him to take legal action against anyone who might talk to us. The “mystery man’s” demeanor and statements convinced us that there was clearly more to this story than we could ascertain over the phone and helped to cement our resolve to drive on out and begin Searching for Bigfoot! As a team, we agreed that we would not interfere with this man’s work, nor would we do anything to jeopardize the legal positions of any of the people we might meet or work with. This decision set up the ground rules for all of our actions in that part of Kentucky. We, the team, set about on our trip with the mutual understanding that we would respect any person’s decision not to talk to us if approached by us. We would limit our inquiries to people who came to us on their own and wanted to share their experiences openly. We made the decision to bring our truck and trailer fully wrapped so that anyone who saw us knew exactly what we were about. We were hopeful that the big signs would attract some attention and open the door for us to find out if the clandestine tapes we had heard about were true or just a story made up to bring attention to a small town. We were not fully prepared for what we actually found. Tom Biscardi and our basic team of investigators; JavaBob , Tommy Biscardi Jr. (TJ), and Lee Hickman thought we might need some extra expertise on this trip. We went ahead and contacted some of our associates to bolster our team. First we contacted Froy San Pedro, our intern photographer to see if he was interested in helping us document our expedition. Next we contacted Steve Kulls, a licensed private investigator, to help us with our investigation. Of course, both of these fine people jumped at the chance to come along and help us learn more about “Bigfoot”! As it turned out, adding the skills of these two men was just what we needed to help us get to the bottom of our mystery. Now that the scene was set, we started out to begin our adventure. Tom Biscardi, JavaBob , TJ Biscardi, and Lee Hickman began heading east from California. We had already committed to meet with a film crew from the Discovery Channel in Arizona. They wanted to do a special on the Searching for Bigfoot team and we had agreed. After meeting with the Discovery Channel and completing our filming in Arizona, we continued on with the plan of meeting Steve Kulls and Froy San Pedro, (who were coming from the East Coast), in Kentucky.
Normally, the drive from Arizona to Kentucky would take us just over 27 hours, but we ran into one of the worst snow and ice storms of this decade. Our one day trip turned into a three day trip. We covered three states without ever getting off of a river of black ice. We saw no less than 35 big rig trucks either jack-knifed or laid over on their sides. We never got over 35 miles per hour! However, with perseverance and focus, we managed to stay the course. TJ, was especially driven to get to Kentucky because his wife had made arrangements to bring his children to where we would staying so they could see their dad while he was working.
We arrived in Kentucky two days late, but we arrived safely. Steve and Froy had been waiting for us and already had our rooms held at the motel. Unfortunately, the sever cold weather seemed to have damaged the engine on our truck. We found signs of diesel fuel in the reservoir for the radiator. We took the truck to the nearest dealership who diagnosed the problem as a cracked injector cup, possibly caused by the extreme changes in temperature. They told us it would take at least three days to get all the parts and fix the problem. We rented a van and hooked the trailer to Steve Kull’s truck, leaving our rig at the dealership we headed back to our motel. After a short rest, we jumped right into our investigation. We began by reviewing what information we had already gathered. We knew the general area of the alleged filming and we knew the name of the “mystery man” who was supposedly the owner of the film. Tom even called the “mystery man” again. The "mystery man" explained that his plan was to do a thoroughly documented history of this creature. this history would be so well documented that the scientific world along and the governmental bureaucracy would not be able to question it. It was this man's belief that these groups have been covering up the existence of this creature to protect big business from the environmental repercussions of admitting the existence of such a creature. As we sat and discussed the meager facts set before us a stranger who happened by and saw our trailer, came into the lobby to ask us what we were doing here in this small town in Kentucky. We told him we had heard about a film taken of a creature eating pancakes in this area. To our surprise, he told us he knew about the film and had seen it himself! As it turned out, this man was the amateur Bigfoot hunter that had called Tom from Ohio! He shared with us that he had an idea where the film had been made, but did not know exactly. He offered to take us out to the general area and show us where he though it might be. Of course, we jumped at the chance. This was our first break in un-raveling the mystery. We jumped in the van, followed by Steve’s truck and the trailer and followed our new guide. Our guide took us for a short ride out into the country were we saw many small farms set up on the hillsides surrounding the heavily wooded bottom lands that follow the creeks and marshy areas in the valleys. These bottom lands went on for as far as the eye could see and created a vast “highway” system that could allow a creature to travel for hundred of miles, virtually undetected.
On the way through this maze of back roads and hills, we passed a small home where a smallish woman was out putting feed out in her bird feeders. We could see that there were no other farms or houses visible behind her home, just miles and miles of bottom lands. On a hunch, Tom stopped the van and went over to introduce himself to this woman. The woman is a pleasant and friendly lady who showed a great deal of curiosity about who we are and what we were doing in her neighborhood. Tom went ahead and explained about the alleged film and that we were here trying to find out if it was real or not. The woman, who we soon made fast friends with, introduced herself as Mary Ann. She told us that she had lived at this location for over eleven years and had heard about the same stories beginning about two years earlier. In fact, she went on to tell us, there was a person living two houses down the street that claimed to be with National Geographic and was living in the house where the film was made! Mary Ann even went on to bring Tom over to meet this woman. When Tom got there, he could plainly see that there was someone home, but who ever it was would not answer the door. Going back to Mary Ann’s house, Mary Ann phoned her next door neighbor to ask her about what she might know. To Mary Ann’s shock, her next door neighbor got very short with Mary Ann and told her in no uncertain terms that she (the neighbor) would not talk to anyone about “Bigfoot” or any films!
Our team gathered the information about our new finding, including the street addresses and license numbers of the cars at these locations. We asked Mary Ann if she would mind if we came back that evening to set up some cameras on her property and put out some pancakes of our own. Mary Ann happily agreed and we headed back to the motel to check out the information we had gathered. When we returned to the motel, we noticed a small pickup truck in the parking lot of the restaurant next door. The young man in the pickup was watching us with binoculars and talking on the cell phone. It was clear we were under surveillance. At the motel we asked Steve Kulls to put his expertise to work and see what he could find for us. Steve soon uncovered that the home, occupied by the woman who was supposedly working with the National Geographic Society, was owned by a corporation and not by an individual. He also found that the person living there was not affiliated with the National Geographic Society in any way. Of course, this peaked Steve’s professional curiosity and he went on to discover that there was no information available about the corporation whose name appeared on the public records as the owner of the house. He also was able to ascertain that the woman living in the house is a scientist with double PhD?Create’s and with earlier associations with research on the phenomenon known as “Bigfoot”! With a little follow up investigation, Steve was able to find that the people who owned the home where the scientist was living prior to it being purchased by the un-recognized corporation had moved to another home near by. We were able to get those peoples names, but Steve could not find any records of their new location. With our heads swimming, we headed back out to Mary Ann’s house to set up our cameras and set out the pancake baits for that evening. Once there, Mary Ann set about cooking mounds of pancakes and bacon for us. TJ’s son, Tom Biscardi the fourth, who was visiting TJ on this expedition, came along with us and got to join in on the action. Once the equipment and bait was set out, we sat quietly for several hours monitoring the baits and cameras before heading back to the motel. We left the cameras set up and running at Mary Ann’s and planned on coming back the following afternoon to pick them up.
The following morning, TJ’s wife and children left us and headed back towards their home. The rest of us then headed out for breakfast before going to pick up our equipment. On the way out, we saw that young man who had been surveilling us was still on duty. We went over to him and introduced ourselves. We invited him to join us, but he said he had to stay where he was and continue doing his job! We went on our way and stopped at a local restaurant to eat. While there, one of the waitresses noticed our trailer and asked if we were really the “Bigfoot” hunters… we explained that we were and she went on to tell us about a movie she had seen of a creature eating pancakes! We were dumbfounded and asked her to go on with her story. She told us that she used to work for a couple as a part time house keeper. That couple used to have parties where they would show this movie to large groups of friends. The waitress when on to explain that during one of those parties, she got to see it as well. She said it was a clear shoot of something she had never seen before and was the most convincing evidence she had ever seen of the existence of these creatures. We asked her if she knew the name of the people who had the film and she shared it with us. Then we asked her if she knew where they lived. She told us she knew where it was, but not the address. It seems that the location was very near Mary Ann’s house and so it was on our way to pick up the cameras. We went on to pick up the cameras and on the way back drove around the area looking for the house that the waitress described to us. We drove around for several passes before we saw a house that matched the description given us. We stopped at the end of the driveway of that house and jotted down the address from the mail box out front. While we were there, a man stepped out of the front door of the house and looked down the driveway at us. We decided to drive on down the driveway and introduce ourselves. We were met by a man who was obviously not pleased that we were there. He walked from his porch out to our van. Tom rolled down the window and said hello. Tom began to introduce himself , but the man stopped him and said; “I know who you are. You are here to steal our thunder! You are not welcome and if you have anything to do with me, get out of the car now while I don’t have my gun. If not leave now… If you come back, I will shoot one of you dead! I have an in with the police here too and I can bring a hurt down on you like you have never known… You all better leave now!”… Although we knew we were close to source of the mystery now, we made the decision to leave this man’s property and respect his wishes. We headed back to the motel where we found that our friend was still sitting in the small black truck watching our motel. We went into our rooms and began to digest what we had just learned. Within a few minutes of our arrival, we saw two more cars pull into the parking lot, two men got out and began taking pictures and movies of our vehicles and trailer. Steve Kulls went right to work following up on the new information we had recovered, the address and name on the mail box. Steve found that the person living in the home we had just been chased away from, was the same person who used to own the home where the scientist was staying! Steve began investigating more about the peoples in these two homes and found that their records ceased to exist after January 5th of last year. Neither those of the scientist, nor those of the man who chased us off! It was Steve’s opinion that the only entity with enough power and money to make these types of records disappear would be the federal government! Steve’s theory, as bazaar as it was, was beginning to make a little sense to us. Although, this writer is still not convinced, the possibility was now on the table. As for the possibility of the films existence, we are convinced it is most likely real. We never were able to see the film, but there was enough circumstantial evidence around to suggest it really exists. After much discussion and thought, we are left with the following theory; There was a resident creature here at one time. A business man got involved with the study of this creature and was willing to invest a large sum of money to protect his finding. His goal was to bring enough evidence to bear of the existence of this creature, that the scientific community along with the US Government could no longer deny its existence. In doing this, he was able to control the local people by purchasing their properties and/or picking up their expenses by putting them on his payroll. They are placed under contract to keep this entire operation secret. If they break these contracts, they are subject to return all monies they have received for their services. In the mean time, these resident creatures have moved off sight and there is no longer any activity in this area. Our “mystery man” is disappointed in the productivity of the area at this point in time and is looking for a way to get some of his investment back and is watching to see if anyone breaks their contract. The local people are aware of this and seem to understand that their easy time is coming to an end. Now the realization is dawning that they could have made more money with less restrictions by selling the movies on their own. They would like to get out from under their contracts but cannot afford to loose their homes and material things to do it. As for us, we have made new friends here. We suspect that the creature will return as the weather continues to change and as the creature’s migratory path takes it back threw the area. We plan on being back in the area at that time, and with the help of our new friends, we hope to meet up with the creature on our terms. That is why we continue to keep Searching for Bigfoot!
